Winner of Folgers Jingle Contest Can Take Home Thousands

A chance to win $25,000 has arrived with Folgers judging the competition. The Folgers Jingle Contest is a contest that is looking for that one aspiring musician to create an original jingle.  A video that is between 60 and 90 seconds in length has to include the lyrics, “The best part of wakin’ up is Folgers in your cup”. Musicians must submit their work by March 6, 2013; official rules can be found on the Folgers webpage.

The Rise of the Bedroom DJ

The Rise of the Bedroom DJ

In this article, I want to look at the Rise of the Bedroom DJ, of which there are many. I’ll also talk about some resources for the bedroom DJ, such as the royalty free music source from beatsuite.com.

There has recently been a rise in self-taught DJs and producers making it big on the music scene, with Simon Cowell announcing that DJs are the next rock stars.

Artists, such as Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Madeon, TEED, Unicorn Kid, and Skrillex are all making big names for themselves in the charts and the clubs.  Below is a run-down of 3 of my favourite bedroom Djs/Producers.

America’s Top Music Festivals

America’s Top Music Festivals

There’s a whole bunch of notable music festivals in the US and they take place across the entire year. The biggest bands and DJs grace the stages at these events and stock the noise for the punters in the crowd. These festivals are opportunities to let your hair down and the artists clearly love performing at them too. It’s generally European music festivals that get all the attention but not in this article.

Music emotion is Cheap Drug

If you check out MusicForEmotion often, you have likely seen a variety of emotional playlists that we claim will change your mood. If you’ve gone ahead and checked out these playlists by buying a few tracks from iTunes, or downloading them for free on eMusic, you have likely witnessed first hand how a sad breakup song can change your mood, almost instantly. Crazy, huh? What else is that powerful? Not even a drug can make sounds to alter your mood, it requires getting into your blood stream, or brain. Music has an ability to trigger feelings inside of you and press your buttons. Music emotion is dangerous. It can make you do crazy things you would never do if you we not under the influence of music. Why do you think you listen to “workout songs” when you workout?

That’s all the rambling for today. Check out the playlist posted above (tomorrow!), and let me know if I’m wrong!

Music Sucks

What is bad music?

If someone were to bring up the topic “things the world can’t agree on”, chances are the best genre of music wouldn’t be in the top 10. Or 20. Or 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, etc., you get the point. Despite not being in the planet’s top 100 priorities , discussions on what good music is, and isn’t, happen frequently  between friends, relatives, classmates, or even complete strangers. These conversations usually start with statements like “yo man, omg, did you hear that new band SuperBand on 99.9 Amazing Radio?
